Does exercising in the morning make you hungrier when you try to fast?

Hope you see this question==I'm wondering how do you handle "family" meals? Do you sit down with your children and husband at meal times? Just interested in knowing how you incorporate fasting with family and their needs.

This is amazing explanation…I have been contemplating this and now will commit to striving for 16 to 8. I have generally been doing the 12 hour. My challenge my be my snacking during the hours I can eat. I tend to that. No real weight issue🤞 but would love to build more muscle and be more toned and omg… SLEEP well. Thank you 🙏❤️, you are. Wonderful 😊🧘💜

This is very inspiring…. 12 hours is normal to me, but I eat early dinner and breakfast after 12 hours daily because I do my workout mid morning. Could you tell me, if I move to 18 hours or 20 hours, when is it a good time to workout? Can I work out mid morning without eating for over 14 hours? I would love your advice on this problem.

Quick question. During the fasting period is it ok to drink water?
My worst time to snack is at night watching tv but I have been trying to stop it by drinking more water instead.

Hi Schellea, I'm greatly enjoying your exercise videos which I began watching and workout out with when my gym closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic. You have really been a great help. Thanks.

I've been on an 18/6 intermittent fasting (IF) routine for over 6 months, thinking it could help with weight maintenance and improve my sleep. Not eating till noon was surprisingly easy to get used to and I exercise in fasting mode. I am disappointed that my sleep is as bad or worse than before fasting– hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep. I'm often woken up with leg and foot cramps despite having a diet rich in electrolytes (sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium). Just want your readers to know that, at least in one instance, IF has not led to better sleep. I continue with it because it's a great way to stop nighttime snacking, my big downfall.

I am 68 and have been intermittent fasting for 2 years now. I lost 35 lbs, was able to get off b/p meds and have other NSVs (non scale victories). Have you heard of Gin Stevens and her book "Fast, Feast, Repeat"? she gives a great explanation of why you need to clean fast, (black coffee, black tea, and unflavored water) and how the fasting works. The fasting gave me the weight loss, energy increase, and then the desire to exercise. I am glad you are espousing it.
I have just found your videos and am really enjoying them. I'm on Day 3 of the 24 day Workout Challenge. I'm not new to walking workouts as have several much loved Dvds from 2 different exercise gurus. But I was getting tired of their routines and yours have made me look forward again to getting the move on. Plus my new computer lacks a Dvd/CD drive and Youtube is the answer.

You halo me to think of how important it is to look and feel healthy at a older age. I am going to do the 12 hour fast, because I nibble to much at night when I am bored. And also cut out processed foods. You give good advice , thank you for sharing it …..❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️

IF is awesome! I’ve lost 12 lbs in 2 months doing “clean” intermittent Fasting-IF! I have learned that you do not set your hormone insulin in motion when you clean fast. I drink black coffee (no sweetener, creamer, diet drinks…), plain iced tea, water, & mineral water only during fasting. That way, and this is key, my brain doesn’t start sending insulin into my bloodstream. Because at that point, then I would NOT be burning fat but burning glucose.Defeats the purpose! I had put on belly and body weight especially during this COVID-19 quarantine. Nothing was working. Then I came across Ryan and Kim Smith, “Unbelievable Freedom” book and their IF journey which led me to Gin Stephens, “Delay Don’t Deny and “Fast Feast Repeat” books and her IF journey, as well as, her IF Fasting Stories podcasts and Facebook groups…and then Dr. Jason Fung who wrote the “obesity code” and other books!! He has helped over a thousand people in Toronto not only to lose weight but help them with not having to take diabetes medications anymore. At first I was not sure if it was working but when I took my measurements the second time about five weeks in, I had lost 1” off the bust, 1” off the waist and 3” off the hips and had ONLY gone down a few pounds! It is because my body was and is doing what they call “body re-compositioning.” I wish I had done this years ago! It’s a lifestyle NOT A DIET! I love the sleep-full nights, energy and clarity! I do 16/8, 18/6 and/or 20/4. Not only do I eat pretty much whatever I want, with no guilt, I have had ice cream and some carbohydrates and have still lost weight. It’s not about what you eat, although you don’t want to go crazy, it’s about WHEN you eat. That’s it! If I can do this so can you!!

I like IF. I have learned for me that I need to not do it everyday because I was losing muscle mass. I do the 8 hour eating window 5 days a week. What was really important to me is making sure I get enough protein and to eat very balanced every 3-4 hours during my eating window. It is helping with not losing muscle mass anymore. Definitely, lost weight, inflammation and belly fat.

My doctor told me not to intermittent fast daily and to cycle. I was losing too much muscle mass. I’m doing better with 16/8 4 days a week.

Hi, loads of anecdotal evidence on intermittent fasting benefits, no scientific evidence because there is no money to be made from it.
Look at Dr Sten Ekberg on YouTube xxx ps the physiology is a little bit off😘

I jumped straight into IF in April. I highly, highly recommend Gin Stephen's new book: Fast.Feast.Repeat for an easy to understand and comprehensive guide with a Fast Start approach. It is something that I started for the weight loss but I'm so pleased with the health benefits that I no longer worry about the weight…it will come off. Losing pounds, inches, and diet mentality!

Hi Schellea, thank you very much. You made it simple. Still, I have a question for you. I begin my day with a glass of warm water and 4-5 almonds or small banana. After exercise, I have a glass of milk between 9 -10 am. Lunch at 2 pm and dinner at 8 – 9 pm. Does milk break the fasting period? Also can the eating window include a small snack at 6 pm like a handful of peanuts or small bowl of corn or maybe smoothie?
