๐ Q and A (#1) Common thyroid Weight Loss issues, Male vs Female weight loss, Normal Labs & More 2021
This is the first in a (hopeful) long of Q and A videos. These questions come from real people on my blog who are struggling with real problems. I know that many of you have the SAME issues because I see the same comments posted each and every day.
If you guys like it let me know and if you want to have your questions featured then leave them below or leave them on my blog.
I plan to take questions from the blog and answer them here each week. If you want to have your question answered try to keep the question relatively brief (small paragraph) so that it’s easy for everyone to stay on track and understand what is going on.
Hopefully, some of the tips and tricks I talk about here will be helpful to your situation!

You mentioned that itโs normal to steadily gain weight over the years, but when itโs gained in a short amount of time thatโs a different story. Could you please address that? I gained about 30lbs in about 3-4 months & was diagnosed as hypothyroid a couple months after that. This was 2+ years ago & I have tried so much but I canโt get the weight to budge. In fact Iโve gained more. I never struggled with my weight before this. Iโm only 28 now.
I do not have a thyroid. Just saw endo. TSH 0.13; thyroglobulin antibodies more than 1000, thyroid peroxidase 13, T4, Free 1.3, T3 Total 78. My current meds 100 Synthroid and 10 Cytomel. I am 70 year old female. Approx 50 pounds overweight. I have been doing Keto and Intermittent fasting 16-8, I walk 10,000 steps a day. Endo say I am over medicated dropped the Cytomel and move more, eat less! I. Am about to just give up feeling better. PLEASE help?
In my over 10 years of doctor bouncing..the one who finally got me feeling normal again and realized all the hormones need to be balanced is a Gynocologist who specializes in hormones that treats both men and women. I have Hashimoto's, had a total thyroidectomy 2.5 years ago, I'm on NP thyroid medication along with 4.5 mg of LDN (been on these for almost a year now) 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 with K2, 15mg of Zinc and I get bio identical testosterone pellets every 5 months plus she has me doing intermittent fasting (she follows Dr. Jason Fung for this) daily along with drinking collagen daily. The results of all of this is I'm feeling better at 43 than I did thru my late 20s and all of my 30s. It took over 10 years and 5 doctors before I found the right one who understands how my body works. I haven't lost alot of the weight I gained thru all this..I could stand to loose 50lbs but just feeling as good as I do is what matters most to me. It was your videos last year that motivated me to find a doctor who would prescribe NDT and LDN..so thank you for making all these videos doctor.
We in the thyroid community have been treated so badly by medical professionals. Wish we could clone you! Thank you for the sanity. Love you.๐
You are such a great doctor!! I have read and listen to every one of your blog posts. You have given me the knowledge and correct verbiage how to talk with my doctor. I feel fantastic. Thank you and a soon as one of your videos pops up, I listen to it right away.
I really love your videos and the wealth of information you provide. I sure wish you were taking new clients.
Yes, very helpful!
This has been very helpful and I feel more of these videos would be so appreciated! I have learned a lot from your videos Dr. Childs and appreciate you making them! I think it has highlighted I have had Drโs not knowledgeable in hashimotos at all or young womenโs hormone imbalances. Thank you and keep them coming!
I'm happy that I've found your channel! Weight (I'm 23 and vegan which has helped maintain my weight but it's very difficult for me to lose weight) , hair loss, and brain fog/low energy have been my worse symptoms and it's been difficult finding much information behind this. I suspect I may have hashimotos but have not been diagnosed. I'm only on T4 (levothyroxine) 50mcg and my TSH is a little over 2. I used to be on 75mcg and felt better but dipped into being hyper so my doc lowered my dose. My TSH has been fluctuating for 3 years since diagnosis. My temperature is usually pretty low. My symptoms are better but not great. I've been wondering if Cytomel or some other T3 would be helpful, but I'm concerned about the hair loss. Thoughts?
This is so discouraging. I don't think I'll feel better or get this weight off. I've been in tears since I left my doctors appointment today.
